School is just around the corner! With a new school year, comes new supplies. Most school supplies lists include lots of important things such as pens, folders, binders and more that are essential for your kid’s classes. However, they are often missing a few key items that will make your child's day easier. We’ve put together a list of the top items you may have forgotten about!
1. Reusable Water Bottle
A reusable water bottle is an essential item that your child will use everyday! Not only will it encourage them to stay healthy and hydrated, but it’s also a lot more sanitary for them to use than the communal school water foundations. This is a great alternative to single-use plastic bottles because it’s better for the environment and will save you money overtime! They also come in endless colors and designs so you can pick out the perfect one your kid will love.
2. Hand Sanitizer
Stock up on hand sanitizer for the school year to protect your young ones from germs and illnesses. Try getting ones that smell good or come in fun colors so they are more likely to actually remember to use it! Buy a mini size to keep in their desk or attach it to their backpack so they can take it everywhere.
3. Compact Umbrella
Umbrellas are another item easily forgotten about until needed! While waiting for the bus or just walking into school, make sure your child is prepared for rainy days. Compact umbrellas conveniently fit in backpacks and come with a wrist strap for easy carry or to hang up and dry.
4. Calendar or Planner
This item is crucial to set your child up for success! A planner will give your student one easy place to record all their assignments, tests, and upcoming events. It is absolutely essential for high school students, but the younger they start getting into the habit of organizing their school work the better!
5. Flash Drive
Classrooms today are becoming more and more high-tech. Many classrooms regularly require students to complete projects and write papers online, so having a flash drive to save their work is essential. Even if your student is lucky enough to have their own tablet or computer, it’s a good idea to have a place for them to back up their work, or to give them a way to easily transfer their work between devices.
It’s common to forget about gym class when shopping for supplies, but making sure your kids have high quality tennis shoes is essential! Invest in a pair that are comfortable for running and provide them with lots of support.
7. Face Masks
Most schools no longer require face masks, but it’s still a good idea for your child to have a couple just in case. They might end up feeling sick throughout the day and want to mask to keep the students around them safe. Alternatively, they might end up sitting next to a kid with a cough they don’t want to catch. Many kids became comfortable wearing masks during the pandemic and some might just want to use them to accessorize their outfit!
